For the most part, I read books and buy books because my two best friends have read them and liked them. There are only a couple writers that I read that I “found first.”

Now that I’m trying to be more active on Good Reads, I look at the ratings of books I’m reading. If they have a low rating and I am enjoying (have enjoyed) the book, I look at the reviews to see why.

Sometimes it upsets me because they hate it for all the reasons I love it. Or they are nitpicky. For the most part, these people who read the same books as me like them.

I don’t actively look for reviews beforehand. If people are talking about a book (like with The Hunger Games), I’ll look into it. But for the most part, my books are found by my friends telling me I need to read it or something that I thought looked interesting and picked up at the BAM.
